HISTORY

The GT World Challenge Europe (known as the Blancpain GT Series between 2014 and 2019) is a championship featuring grand tourer racing cars modified from production road cars, complying with the FIA’s GT3 regulations.

The series is divided into two separate championships, the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup and the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup.

The Endurance Cup is a championship for GT3 cars, similar to the European Le Mans Series which uses GTE cars and Le Mans Prototypes.
It reestablishes several elements of the former FIA GT Championship, with three hour endurance races held on European circuits, as well as a continuation of the Spa 24 Hours.

The Sprint Cup now exclusively races in Europe, but had in previous years visited other continents, including Asia.
The series continues the sprint format for GT-cars carried out by the former FIA GT1 World Championship.

The alignment of an established on-track product with fresh ideas beyond the circuit speaks to the series’ ethos.
As a result, by combining an illustrious history with a modern approach to competition, the GT World Challenge Europe stands at the forefront of international motor racing.
